Yorkshire Dale
ESTATE
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Generating returns from a rewilded estate
This partner-led rewilding project will restore approximately 600 hectares on the outskirts
of the Yorkshire Dales, transforming degraded land into a thriving natural ecosystem that
generates long-term financial, environmental, and social returns.By restoring natural
processes, the estate will produce contracted nature-based revenues, alongside
significant ecosystem and community benefits.
Restoration Type
The project will rewild the landscape through the removal of sheep grazing and the introduction of large herbivores to restore natural vegetation dynamics. Strategic tree and scrub planting will create diverse, resilient habitats. Wetlands will be reconnected through reversal of historic drainage, supported by beaver introduction, improving water regulation and ecological function across the estate.
